Mi Tho's Smile Blog

Just another WordPress.com weblog

Wonderful news on Mi Tho!  We are so happy to have received this exciting update.

Greetings from Taipei! The operation took about 7 hours, for her nose, lip and right eye repairs. The operation went smoothly, but now Mi Tho may feel uncomfortable especially the ribcage, because the doctor used her own rib to rebuilt the nose.

We were amazed that Mi Tho’s appearance changed so much when we visited her yesterday.

After such a long operation, she looked tired and was quiet yesterday. We could image the wounds on her body and face cause her painful.

Dr. Lou told us about 5 (or more) days Mi Tho could leave the hospital, and one more week stay in the village. After returning to outpatient clinic to assess her condition stable, she could go home. Therefore Mi Tho and [her chaperone] may return to Myanmar on the second week of April.

Thank you so much for continuously praying for Mi Tho and the operation. I think God listens our pray.

Though the surgery is finished she will have recovery time then will return to Myanmar for further recovery and then back to her village…so we are not finished yet. She is also in some pain as the surgery was so invasive…though we all are excited with the results and look forward to seeing her smile.

Her journey has been remarkable and  is still ongoing…from her little fishing village that was destroyed in Cyclone Nargis to Taiwan and soon back.  Mi Tho is already touching lives in Taiwan and will do even more so in Myanmar and beyond. This was an effort that a lot of people helped make happen and thru your gifts and prayers you were one of them.

I will keep you updated ~ Mike
